Nancy Ostrovsky is known for her line drawings,
studio work, and "Live Painting Performances" to music.

NANCY OSTROVSKY was born in Benghazi, North Africa and spent her childhood in Taiwaan, the Philippines, Bangkok and Bangladesh. She began painting at the age of eight and had her first solo exhibition at eighteen. Nancy has a Black Belt in Zen Sword, has been a Yoga practioner for many years, and is a daily swimmer.

Selected private collections include: HBO, NYC; Young Audiences, NYC; Very Special Arts,
Wash D.C.; Town Hall of Huntingon, LI; the Green Street Grille in Cambridge, Ma which owns
a collection of 40 paintings on permanent display.

In addition to exhibiting, Ostrovsky paints "live" in multimedia performances.
Her "Paintings to Music" are done "live" while Nancy is on stage with the musicians as they play.
Nancy uses the immediacy of the musicians, the music and the environment to record the
performance.

She has worked with musicians of the highest caliber including: Fred Hopkins,
(solo bass), David Murray Trio, Roswell Rudd, Syd Smart, Leonard Brown, Erica Lindsay,
Thurman Barker, Hugh Brodie, Lisa Thorson, and numerous others.

Venues have included: Instititute of Contemporary Art, Boston, The International Festival of Media Art and Media
Future in Hamburg Germany, the Eastman School of Music, Festival of Women Improvisers,
Northeastern University, the Knitting Factory, Massachusetts College of Art, United States
Information Agency in Hamburg Germany.
